Camilo Luzuriaga (* 1953 in Loja ) is an Ecuadorian director , screenwriter and producer .

Life

Between 1971 and 1976, Luzuriaga was an actor in a theater company called Grupo Ollantay .

Then he devoted himself to photography . Luzuriaga had five solo exhibitions and in 1982 organized the Primer Encuentro Nacional de Fotografia Contemporánea in Ecuador . From 1982 to 1887 he was Professor of Photography at the Faculty of Arts of the Universidad Central del Ecuador and since 1994 at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador .

In 1977 he made Tierra Cañari , a short documentary film.

Luzuriaga recorded his first feature film La Tigra in 1990. At the Cartagena Film Festival , the film won awards in the categories of Best Film and Best First Work .

In 1996, Entre Marx y una mujer desnuda followed , the film adaptation of a novel by Jorge Enrique Adoum . The film won the Premio Coral for best director in Havana and the awards for best director and the best soundtrack in Trieste .

Then Luzuriaga shot Cara o Cruz (2003) and 1809/1810 Mientras llega el día .

The Ecuadorian director is currently teaching at the Escuela de Cine y Actuación in Quito .
