Camilo Mayr (born March 4, 1991 in Bogotá ) is a German archer in the Olympic discipline of the recurve bow .
Career
Camilo Mayr studies biophysics at the Humboldt University in Berlin . He is a native Colombian who was adopted by his parents, a Colombian and a German. The B national team athlete is trained by Oliver Haidn and started for the Schützengilde Welzheim until 2013 , after which he moved to the Querum shooting club . He was initially successful as a junior. At the 2010 European Championships in Winnenden , he won the bronze medal with the team. In 2005 he won the title at the German Indoor Championships for Juniors, he also came third in the indoor arena in 2003 and in 2004 and 2006 in the outdoor championships.
Mayr has started in the men's performance area since 2012. At the European Championships in Amsterdam he was eighth in the team competition and 17th in the individual with Florian Floto and Sebastian Rohrberg . At the World Cup in Ogden , he came third with the German team. Although he missed the direct qualification for the Olympic Games in London , he benefited from the return of a quota place by Israel and came as a successor in the Olympic field. In doing so, he is continuing a tradition of his home club, which has been represented in the German squad at all Olympic Games since 1992 . In the preliminary fight he was 52nd of the 64 participants with 653 rings. In the first round he failed 6-0 to Xu Ying .
Mayr has been national champion five times, team champion in 2009/10 and Bundesliga champion in 2008.
