Camp Hovey

Camp Hovey is a base of the US Army about one mile outside the South Korean city of Dongducheon north that about 41 miles of the capital Seoul lies. The base is an outpost of the much larger Camp Casey base , to which it is connected by the so-called Hovey Cut (road). It is part of a variety of military installations in the Tongduchon area called the Casey Enclave .

The base is one of many Army bases near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the border with North Korea , such as Camp Castle and neighboring Camp Casey , where strong forces of the 2nd U.S. Infantry Division are concentrated, the core unit of the 8th Infantry Division . US Army .

Camp Hovey has an area of 4,000 acres and offers accommodation for 2,000 to 2,500 troops and up to 500 civilian employees of the Defense Department and other 100 men personnel whose duties as secret classified.

The base forms a strong military presence at the DMZ, primarily to act as a deterrent against any invasion plans from outside and secondarily to support the national defense of South Korea in the event of war.
