Can Cangök (born February 18, 1960 in Balıkesir ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.

Player career

Cangök started club soccer in 1974 in the youth department of Balıkesirspor , the most successful soccer club in his hometown Balıkesir. Here he played until 1977 and then moved on with Balıkesir Esnaf SK to another local club in Balıkesir. A year later he returned to the second division Balıkesirspor and started his professional career here. At this club he played until the summer of 1986 and then moved to the first division Rizespor after the club lost relegation in the 2nd Futbol Ligi and relegated to the 3rd Futbol Ligi . With this Black Sea representative he fought for a regular place in phases in his first season and completed a total of 26 competitive appearances. After he gambled away this regular place in his second season, the 1987/88 season, and spelled a reservist existence with seven competitive appearances, he returned to Balıkesirspor in the summer of 1988. With this club he reached the championship in the third division season 1991/92 and thus the return to the 2nd Futbol Ligi. After a second division season at Balıkesirspor, he ended his playing career in the summer of 1993.

Coaching career

Cangök's first documented coaching activity is that of a junior coach at Balıkesirspor from 1997. In February 1998 he took over the club, which was then playing in the 2nd Turkish league, as head coach on an interim basis and only looked after him until the end of the season. His contract was extended for the next season. Cangök looked after the club until September 1998. A year after this departure, he returned to his club as an assistant coach. After the club separated from the head coach in November 1999, Cangök took over the club for the third time as head coach and coached it until the end of the season.

In October 2000, Cangök took over the fourth division club Akhisar Belediyespor and coached him for about three seasons. After his activities as a coach had remained vacant from 2003 to 2007, he took over Erdek Belediyespor in 2007. In September 2008 he returned to Balıkesirspor as a junior coach after years. At this club he was promoted to head coach in November 2008 after Cangöks had left the club. In January 2009 he left the club, but returned as a junior coach in October 2009 and worked here until summer 2010.

After working as a junior coach at Erdekspor from 2014 to 2016 , he returned to Balıkesirspor in February 2016. In October 2016 he was hired again as head coach at this club. In December 2017, he returned to his work in the youth department.
