Theobald Hofmann

Alwin Theobald Hofmann (born July 1, 1861 in Löbau ; † August 19, 1953 in Kassel ) was a German architect, professor and specialist author.

Life

Theobald Hofmann, son of the Löbauer master builder Alwin Hofmann, completed his architectural training in the master workshop of the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe under Ferdinand Keller . From 1889 he attended the Académie Julian in Paris. In 1890 Hofmann received an academic travel grant. “The architect Alwin Theobald Hofmann from Löbau, a student of the building supervisor Prof. Lipsius , had a lot to do with his design for a concert hall in the capital. The scholarship amounts to 3,000 marks for two years. ”Theobald-Hofmann-Straße in Löbau is named after him.
