Canadian Amateur Hockey Association

The Canadian Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) ( French Association canadienne de hockey amateur ) was a Canadian ice hockey association that was responsible for the Canadian amateur ice hockey sector from 1914 to 1994 . In 1994 it was merged with the Canadian Hockey Association to form Hockey Canada .

The Canadian Amateur Hockey Association was founded in 1914 at Château Laurier in the Canadian capital Ottawa by the trustees of the Allan Cup . In 1919 they took over the trusteeship for the Memorial Cup , which became the property of the Canadian Hockey League in 1985 . Over time, the association's tasks grew and so he was later responsible for the entire amateur sector in Canada.

In July 1994 the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association was merged with the Canadian Hockey Association founded in 1968 to form Hockey Canada .
