Cancer 4 Cure is the third solo album by the American hip hop musician El-P . It was released on May 22, 2012 on the independent label Fat Possum Records . The track The Full Retard was released as a single. El-P dedicated the album to the rapper Camu Tao, who died in 2008 .

Cancer 4 Cure reached number 61 on the US album chart, the Billboard 200 . In the first week, 6,600 units of the album were sold.

criticism

The e-zine Laut.de rated El-Ps Album with four out of five possible points. Dani Fromm characterizes Cancer 4 Cure as music that, while listening, conveys “ that the earth opens up at any moment [...] and that the apocalypse is about to break out. “This deserves the attribute“ grandiose ”. Already in the first piece, Request Denied , “ an oppressive atmosphere [...] descends over the country ”. The instrumentation is characterized by “ dominant drums ”, behind which “ organ tones and squeaky electronics can be guessed more than just made out ”. El-P is characterized by an “ unwillingness to be happy ”, which manifests itself both in the music and in the lyrics. At the end of 2012, the editors of Laut.de chose Cancer 4 Cure at number 22 on their list of the “25 best hip hop albums of 2012”.
