Canon Cat
The Canon Cat is an electronic writing system developed by Jef Raskin at Canon in 1987 .
It differs from other computers of the 1980s mainly through its novel user interface. Instead of using an operating concept based on a mouse , icons and command line , the keyboard has been expanded to include additional special keys.
After six months and 20,000 units sold, Canon stopped selling. Despite its innovative concept, the writing system could not prevail against the emerging word processing programs for the PC .
