Cape Alava is a promontory on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state .
It is considered the westernmost point of the Continental United States , apart from Hawaii and Alaska .

Cape Alava is at the end of the Ozette Trail on the border between the Ozette Indian Reservation and Olympic National Park . At low tide , Tskawahyah Island (124 ° 44 ′ 11.8 ″ W) can be reached at the west end ; at high tide , Cape Flattery (124 ° 43 '35 "W) , located around 25 kilometers to the north, protrudes further west into the Pacific .
Naming
The cape is named after José Manuel de Álava, who, as the representative of the Spanish crown, was involved in the conclusion of the Nootka Convention , which delimited the territorial claims of Spain and Great Britain on the Pacific coast at the beginning of the 1790s.
