Caperdonich is a former whiskey distillery in Rothes , Moray , Scotland , UK .

history

The distillery was founded in 1897 by James Grant as Glen Grant No. 2 across from Glen Grant . The two distilleries were until the first Glen Grant No. 2 1902 connected by a pipeline. It was not until 1965 that the distillery was renovated by Glenlivet Distilleries and reopened under the name Caperdonich . In 1967 it was expanded by two stills to four. In 1977 it went to Seagram and in 2001 to Pernod Ricard , who shut it down in August 2002 and sold parts of the site. At the end of 2010 the distillery was demolished. The Owl Distillery from Belgium has now acquired a wash and a spirit still from the distillery, and three fermentation tanks went to Wolfburn .

production

The water of the distillery belonging to the Speyside region came from the Black Burn (Caperdonich Well). The distillery had a mash tun ( mash do ) (4.6 tons) of steel and eight fermenting tanks ( wash backs ) (together 184,000 l). Distillation took place in two wash stills (together 23,000 l) and two spirit stills (together 14,000 l).
