Capital Gate is a multifunctional skyscraper in Abu Dhabi that is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most inclined tower in the world with an incline of 18 degrees, and this inclination was intended by the architect.

history

Planning for the building began in 2007 and the first site explorations were carried out in the first year. The shell of the Capital Gate, planned by England-based architect Robert Matthew Johnson Marshall (RMJM), was completed at the end of 2009. At the location right next to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center not far from the Zayed Sports City Stadium , 35 floors are spread over a total height of 160 meters. The incline to the west is 18 degrees, considerably more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa (3.97 degrees) or the church tower of Suurhusen , record holder with 5.19 degrees.

At the beginning of 2011, the construction of the Capital Gate was completed. A year earlier, after completion of the shell, the test for inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records as the most deliberately inclined tower in the world began. This title was presented on December 21, 2011 during the official opening of the building. The owner is the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company . In addition to offices, the building also houses a five-star hotel belonging to the Hyatt hotel chain .
