Reviews

James Southall thinks that Jackman's soundtrack is stylistically far removed from that of the previous films in a positive sense. The soundtrack in the Siberian Overture begins with a theme that sounds like it comes from an old thriller , it also has some positive features overall, and it emphasizes the crystal-clear recording of the orchestra. Lasse Vogt also calls the soundtrack a clear step forward compared to its predecessor, even if it is not the best musical contribution to the cinematic Marvel universe . Vogt describes the beginning of the soundtrack as a quiet melody that slowly builds up tension, played by woodwinds , strings and rolling drums, which are replaced by a shrill, unearthly sounding wail. Vogt, however, is not completely convinced of the beginning of the soundtrack: The big problem with Jackman's score is that it sometimes sounds too anonymous and aimless to be able to assign the titles to the respective scenes. The really good tracks don't start until the second half, before that the music - with a few exceptions - lacks a clear line or even identity, not to mention a real leitmotif . Mihnea Manduteanu highlights the song Catastrophe , which is a classic Marvel piece and through a combination of emotion and epic construction expresses the determination of the hero who has just freed himself from a dramatic situation.

Chart successes

The soundtrack to the film reached number 11 in the official soundtrack album charts in the United Kingdom and rose in May 2016 No. 5 in the US Billboard Soundtrack album chart one. On the US Billboard 200, the soundtrack had its best ranking at # 168.
