Caraquet and Gulf Shore Railway

The Caraquet and Gulf Shore Railway was a railway company in the Canadian province of New Brunswick . It was created on April 13, 1911 through the merger of the Caraquet Railway and the Gulf Shore Railway . The route network consisted of an approximately 108-kilometer-long line that branched off the main line of the Intercolonial Railway in Gloucester Junction and led to Shippigan on the Gulf of St. Lawrence , and a 22-kilometer branch line parallel to the Gulf Coast to Tracadie . The company was nationalized on June 1, 1920 and became part of the Canadian National Railways . Today only the short section from Gloucester Junction to East Bathurst , which is operated by the New Brunswick East Coast Railway , remains .
