The Carl-Schmitt-Gesellschaft e. V. is a scientific association for the promotion of factual, critical engagement with the life and work of the German constitutional lawyer Carl Schmitt .
The society emerged in 2010 from the Carl-Schmitt-Förderverein founded in 2006 at the place of birth and death of Schmitt in Plettenberg . The company is based in Berlin. Since 2015, the office has been in the house of the Duncker & Humblot publishing house , which now looks after Schmitt's works. It was previously located in the Plettenberg City Archives. The chairman of the society is the Berlin publisher Gerd Giesler , who was a long-time companion of Schmitt. In November 2019, the legal scholar Florian Meinel was elected chairman of the company's scientific advisory board.
Publications
The society supports the publication, especially the edition of the autobiographical writings of Carl Schmitt. On their website there are small articles, pictures and documents about Schmitt as well as a continuously updated selection bibliography and the reconstructed virtual Schmitt library.
The Society has been publishing the New Series of Schmittiana since 2011 , which continues the volumes previously published by Piet Tommissen by editing letters and manuscripts from and about Schmitt from the estate.
