Gerd Giesler

Gerd Giesler (born July 21, 1940 in Plettenberg / Sauerland) is publisher and editor of Carl Schmitt's works .

Life

Giesler studied natural sciences, philosophy and art history in Berlin . He obtained his doctorate in organic chemistry in Berlin in 1969 .

After completing his doctorate, he worked in the scientific publishing industry: From 1969 to 1990 at Wiley-VCH Verlag as a lecturer and division manager, where he founded the Acta humaniora division in 1983 . From 1991 to 2005 he was managing director and publishing director of the Akademie-Verlag in Berlin.

Gerd Giesler is the editor of natural science historical monographs and correspondence. From 1959 until his death he was in close contact with the lawyer and political thinker Carl Schmitt. He is the editor of diaries and other writings Schmitt and since 2010 a founding member and first chairman of Carl Schmitt Society eV
