Reinhard Mehring

Reinhard Mehring (born April 7, 1959 in Düsseldorf ) is a German political scientist and philosopher.

Reinhard Mehring attended grammar school in Düsseldorf, then studied philosophy , German and political science in Bonn and Freiburg and completed his legal clerkship at Karlsruhe grammar schools. In 1988 he was in political science at Wilhelm Hennis in Freiburg with an overall presentation of the work of Carl Schmitt doctorate . Between 1989 and 2000 positions at the Universities of Düsseldorf and Würzburg as well as at the Humboldt University in Berlin followed , where Mehring completed his habilitation in philosophy in 2000 with a thesis on Thomas Mann . He then worked as a private lecturer in Berlin until 2007 and taught at schools in Düsseldorf. In 2007 he received a professorship for political science and its didactics at the Heidelberg University of Education .

Mehring emerged with a large number of publications, primarily on the history of ideas , and distinguished himself in particular as a Carl Schmitt researcher. He was co-editor of the Political Thinking yearbook .

Mehring is married and has one son.
