Carl Albert Raining

Carl Albert Regnet , also Karl Albert Regnet (born on May 5, 1822 in Straubing ; died on April 7, 1886 in Munich ) was a German lawyer and writer on cultural history .

Life

Regnet worked in the Bavarian judicial service, initially as an assessor at the Munich Regional Court in 1858, from 1859 to 1863 as a police commissioner at the Munich Police Department, in 1864 as a public prosecutor and from 1865 until his retirement in 1868 as a district official in Landau an der Isar . In retirement he lived in Munich.

However, he is still known today primarily for his art and cultural-historical writings. His works include biographies of Munich artists, which he published in two volumes in the Munich Artists' Pictures in 1871. His best-known work is Munich in the good old days (1879). He wrote numerous articles for anthologies and magazines, such as Die Gartenlaube or Die Kunst für alle, but also writings that dealt with general topics, including numerous geographical articles.

The Regnetstraße was named after him in the Munich district of Bogenhausen - Daglfing .
