Carl Benda

Carl Benda (born December 30, 1857 in Berlin , † May 24, 1932 in Turin ) was a German anatomist and pathologist . Benda introduced the term mitochondria in 1898 .

Life

Benda attended the Gymnasium zum Grauen Kloster in Berlin, then studied medicine in Berlin and Heidelberg and was approved in 1880.

In 1888 Benda qualified as a professor for normal anatomy in Berlin and in 1899 received the title of professor. From 1894 he worked as a prosector of the pathological-anatomical institute of the Am Urban hospital . From 1908 he was head of the pathological institute of the municipal hospital Berlin-Moabit . In 1908 he was appointed honorary professor of the medical faculty.
