Carl Brandt (publisher)

Carl Brandt (* around 1815 ; † 1893 ) was a German publisher in Culm in West Prussia .

Life

Carl Brandt came from Thorn . In 1848 he bought a bookstore in Culm and founded a printing company there. This was the second after that of Wilhelm Theodor Lohde in the city.

Since 1849 the newspaper Culmer Bote appeared with him , since 1862 as Culmer Zeitung with the Kreisblatt , which contained official announcements.

In 1879 the company went to the commission agents Amelung'sche Assortment bookstore (Benecke & Schlenther) from Berlin and Mrs. Förster from Leipzig. In 1897 Gustav Goerz bought the printing works and ran it as Carl Brandt's Buchdruckerei (G. Goerz) , the publishing house existed as Verlag Carl Brandt until 1915.
