Wilhelm Theodor Lohde

Wilhelm Theodor Lohde (* around 1800 ; † May 30, 1873 in Culm , West Prussia ) was a German publisher in Danzig , Thorn and Culm.

Life

Wilhelm Theodor Lohde came from Berlin. In 1823 he took over the JC Albertische Buch- und Kunsthandlung in Gdansk with a printer and passed it on to Louis Botzon in 1825. In 1830 he founded a printing house in Thorn, where he worked until 1838. In 1835 he founded another in Culm. This changed address several times and was finally in the building of today's main post office on the market in the back of the Roman Hotel .

Lohde published writings in German, but also in Polish and Latin. He published the Culmer Wochenblatt ( 1832/35 - around 1865), the Kreis-Blatt of the Royal Prussian District Councilor of Culm (1835-1860s) with official announcements and a few copies of the Szkółka Narodowa (1848), the first Polish magazine in Culm.

His son Wilhelm took over the company.
