Carl Christensen

Carl Frederik Albert Christensen (born January 16, 1872 in Kallehaugegaard, Lolland , † November 24, 1942 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish systematic botanist and first describer of numerous species of ferns. His abbreviation as a botanist is C.Chr.

Live and act

Christensen studied natural history at the University of Copenhagen with Eugenius Warming . He was the first superintendent at the Botanical Museum in Copenhagen. Christensen specialized in ferns and published a catalog on pteridophytes , the Index Filicum . He also wrote a three-volume work on the history of botany in Denmark.

Honors

Named after Christensen is a genus Christensenia Maxon from the Marattiaceae family .
