Carl Eduard Schünemann

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carl Eduard Schünemann (born June 6, 1855 in Bremen ; † January 13, 1921 there ) was a German book and newspaper publisher.

The grandson of the publisher's founder, Carl Heinrich Schünemann , initially joined the Schünemann Verlag as a partner in 1880 and took over sole management five years later. He modernized and enlarged the family business, among other things by introducing the rotary printing process for the Bremer Nachrichten , later also for the nationally oriented Weser-Zeitung, which appears in the same house . He positioned the book division as a leading publisher for Low German literature and culture as well as illustrated books with a regional reference. There were also official and semi-official publications such as the Bremen State Handbook or the Bremen Address Book , some of which are still published by Schünemann-Verlag today.

Carl Eduard Schünemann is the namesake of today's Carl Ed. Schünemann KG.

Schünemann was buried in the Riensberg cemetery in Bremen.
