Carl Friedrich Felber (born September 21, 1880 in Wädenswil , † July 14, 1932 in Dachau ) was a Swiss-German painter and etcher .

Life and artistic work

Carl Friedrich Felber studied at the Arts and Crafts School in Karlsruhe, the Académie Julian in Paris, the Hollosy School in Munich and at the Dachau Painting School with Adolf Hölzel , one of the first representatives of the Dachau artists' colony . From 1901 he lived with his German wife in the city on the Amper. Time and again Carl Felber returned to his homeland for a long time to visit his brother, the long-time mayor Ernst Felber. He captured the Swiss (winter) landscape on Lake Zurich in many of his paintings, along with landscapes from the area around Dachau. The artist, who has exhibited regularly in the Glaspalast in Munich and in Switzerland since 1906 , was a member of the Swiss graphic artists' association, Walze , to which Paul Klee , for example, also belonged.

Works by Carl Felber can be viewed in the Dachau Picture Gallery .

A street in Dachau commemorates the artist.

Artistic work

Felber was a landscape painter in the sense of the Dachau School. He preferred an open style of presentation with a broad brushstroke, sometimes with strong coloring .
