Carl Gustav Alexander Brischke

Carl Gustav Alexander Brischke (* December 17, 1814 in Danzig ; † May 24, 1897 ibid) was a German entomologist who dealt with hymenoptera and flying insects , especially brackish wasps and parasitic wasps .

Brischke was the main teacher in Danzig.

Its collection, especially of hymenoptera in West Prussia and insect pests, is distributed among the Natural History Museum in Gdansk, the Zoological Museum in Königsberg and the University of Kharkov.

He published the main work of the Königsberg professor Ernst Gustav Zaddach Observations on the Species of Sawfly and Wood Wasps in 1883/84 after his death. He worked a lot with Zaddach. He published on parasitic wasps, harmful and beneficial insects, gall formation and fossil insects from the Tertiary (Baltic amber).
