Carl Henry Hoffman

Carl Henry Hoffman (born August 12, 1896 in Bangor , Northampton County , Pennsylvania , †  November 30, 1980 in Somerset , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . In 1946 and 1947 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Carl Hoffman attended public schools in his home country. During the First World War he was in a training camp for officers of the infantry. After that he worked as a teacher for some time. At the same time he continued his own training. In 1922 he graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon . In the following years up to 1946 he worked in Somerset in the timber, oil and banking industries. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party .

After the death of the House of Representatives J. Buell Snyder , Hoffman was elected to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the by-election due for the 23rd seat of Pennsylvania , where he assumed his new mandate on May 21, 1946. Since he refused to run again in 1946, he was only able to end the current legislative period in Congress until January 3, 1947 . This was determined by the events immediately after the end of the Second World War .

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Carl Hoffman resumed his previous activities. He died on November 30, 1980 in Somerset, where he was also buried.
