Carl Koch (painter, 1827)

Carl Koch (born May 5, 1827 in Berlin ; † January 1, 1905 there ) was a German genre and history painter and illustrator .

Life

Koch was initially a student in the studio of the history painter Johann Gottfried Brücke in Berlin. From 1848 he regularly took part in the Berlin Academy exhibitions. Before 1854 he worked as a porcelain painter and lithographer . In 1854/55 he was a student of Thomas Couture in Paris, from 1855 back in Berlin, where he worked as an illustrator and painter. In 1894 he took part in the Great Berlin Art Exhibition, in 1887 he took part in the Black and White Exhibition in Vienna.
