Carl Koechlin
Carl Koechlin (born November 5, 1856 in Basel ; † February 2, 1914 there ) was a Swiss politician and officer .
Life
After graduating from high school in Geneva and completing a commercial apprenticeship in Basel, Koechlin joined the chemical factory of his uncle Johann Rudolf Geigy in 1883 . From 1897 to 1902, supported by the workers, he was a liberal-democratic national councilor . He contributed to the National Bank Act and was committed to the introduction of postal checks. From 1898 to 1913 he was a member of the Basel Chamber of Commerce (President from 1906). From 1893 to 1895 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Federal Railways , and from 1906-07 he was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss National Bank .
In the Swiss Army , Carl Koechlin became a colonel in 1899 and in 1905 as a colonel division commander of the 2nd division. After a stroke, he resigned his command in 1908.
