Carl Kraemer

Carl Kraemer (born December 22, 1873 in Hilchenbach ; † May 12, 1951 there ) was a German animal rights activist .

Life

In his youth, Kraemer acquired extensive knowledge of the animal and plant world. Because of this knowledge he was appointed to the zoological section of the Westphalian Provincial Association for Science and Art in Münster at the age of 23 .

In 1912 he was appointed full-time employee of the Berlin Animal Welfare Association in Berlin .

During the First World War he devoted himself to protecting wounded horses . This activity was supported by numerous personalities of the time. Among his sponsors was Paul von Hindenburg .

His many years of work were crowned on November 24, 1933, when the first German animal protection law was passed.
