Carl Lange (painter)

Carl Lange , also modernized Karl Lange , (* 1884 in Penig ; † 1956 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) was a German painter who was best known for historical pictures and landscape views.

At the beginning of the 20th century he studied at the Art Academy in Dresden, where he was a student of Eugen Bracht and Gotthardt Kuehl . He then stayed in Munich for study purposes . Most recently it settled in Chemnitz .

For the town hall of Neustädtel in the Ore Mountains , for example, he created the large painting Bergaufzug in the Neustädler mining landscape during the National Socialist era . On the occasion of the Saxon Artists Aid Week, organized by the Kunsthütte zu Chemnitz in the Municipal Museum from April 4 to May 10, 1928, he and Friedrich Schreiber-Weigand organized a private exhibition. He also designed illustrations for magazines and booklets such as the East German monthly books for art and intellectual life .

Carl Lange was a member of the German Association of Artists .
