Carl Leo

Carl Albert Oscar Leo (born February 7, 1902 in Hamburg ; † March 11, 1969 there ) was a German politician of the German State Party .

Life and work

After studying jurisprudence, Leo, who was a Protestant , settled as a lawyer in his hometown of Hamburg in 1928 . He ran a partnership with Ernst Sachs at Bleichenbrücke 10 in Neustadt . After the National Socialists came to power , he was considered a “quarter Jew” because of a Jewish grandparent . Nevertheless he was able to continue practicing his profession.

In May 1937, Carl Leo emigrated to Brazil , where he worked as a commercial clerk. After the Second World War he initially stayed in Brazil, but returned to Hamburg in 1963 and was re-admitted to the bar on November 12, 1963.

Leo was a member of the Hamburg citizenship for the German State Party from 1932 to 1933 .
