Carl William Verheyen is an American guitarist known for his work as a studio musician and with Supertramp .

Life

His first solo album was released in 1988 under the name No Borders . The successor Garage Sale was released in 1994. Since then, Carl Verheyen has been regularly releasing new solo albums and touring. As a studio musician, he supported the Bee Gees and Cher and was involved in many film soundtracks.

Verheyen has been a member of Supertramp since 1985, went on tour with them and later played on the studio albums.

In 1996 he was named Best Studio Guitarist by Guitar Player Magazine Reader's Poll.

Teaching

Verheyen is the author of several textbooks such as Improvising Without Scales and Studio City , a compilation of articles he wrote for the guitar magazine Guitar for the Practicing Musician between 1996 and 1999.

He has published instructional videos and offers online courses and writes for various guitar magazines. He also works as a lecturer and teacher, primarily at the Guitar Institute Of Technology (GIT) in Los Angeles .
