Carl Wilhelm Uhl (* 1812 in Danzig ; † after 1859) was a German portrait and genre painter.

Life

Born the son of a businessman, he began training at the Royal Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin and continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich from August 4, 1837. In 1840 he settled in Danzig. He later emigrated to the United States , where he a. a. Created a "Crucifixion of Christ" in St. Patrick's Church in Charleston, South Carolina . In the 1850s he stayed in Argentina, where several of his paintings were created. In some cases he signed his paintings as "Carlos Uhl".

He mainly worked as a portrait and genre painter.
