Carl von Karstedt (director)

Carl Moriz von Karstedt (born May 29, 1981 in Hamburg ) is a German author , film director , startup entrepreneur and art collector.

Carl von Karstedt was born in Hamburg and is the great-great-grandson of the Reichstag member Carl von Karstedt . He attended Millfield School in Somerset, England, and then lived in Venice and Hamburg. There he worked for the weaving mill Lanificio di Schio and for the advertising agencies Jung von Matt and Slagman's. In 2004 he was awarded a bronze ADC nail for a motif for the Berliner Morgenpost. At the age of 22, he founded the start-up Stilmacher, making him a pioneer in online luxury goods retailing in Europe. Stilmacher also advised luxury hotels in the U / HNWI segment and advised private customers on the acquisition of curated luxury items.

In 2014 he and the Berlin production company 3-B Produktion came up with the idea for the series "Art and Crimes" about the dark side of the art market. As a writer and director, he accompanied the episode "Knoedler and the Chinese" awarded the other authors of the series “Art and Crime” the Grimme Audience Award of the Marler Group .
