Carla Accardi
Carla Accardi (born October 9, 1924 in Trapani , † February 23, 2014 in Rome ) was an Italian painter of abstract art .
Accardi graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo in 1947 . In 1947 she co-founded the formalist Marxist artist group Gruppo Forma 1 , which dissolved again in 1951. She became an important representative of the Italian avant-garde and influenced Arte Povera of the 1960s. In addition to numerous solo exhibitions, Accardi took part in the Venice Biennale in 1964 and 1988 and in the exhibition The Italian Metamorphosis in New York's Guggenheim Museum in 1995 .
