Carlo Antonio Bertinazzi
Carlo Antonio Bertinazzi (born December 2, 1710 in Turin , † September 6, 1783 in Paris ) was an actor of the Commedia dell'arte . Under the stage name Carlin he was one of the most famous actors in France in his day. He was married to the actress Françoise-Suzanne Foulquier .
From 1742 until his retirement he played the role of harlequin at the Italian theater in Paris with constant success. With his genuine, natural and comical demeanor and the cheerfulness of his Lazzi , he played to the delight of the audience.
His stage name Carlin was named for the French name of the dog breed Pug .
