Carlo Canobbio
Carlo Canobbio (* 1741 in Venice ; † February 23 jul. / 7. March 1822 greg. In Saint Petersburg ) was an Italian violinist and composer .
Canobbio was a well-known violin virtuoso at the end of the 18th century. He lived in Saint Petersburg from 1779 to 1800 and worked here as a chamber musician , violinist and composer at the theater. After a stay in Italy in 1800 he returned to Saint Petersburg, where he died in 1822.
In addition to several ballets (including Arianna e Bachus , 1789 and Piram e Tieba , 1791), he composed the operas Amore artigino (1785, based on a libretto by Carlo Goldoni ) and - together with Vasily Alexejewitsch Paschkewitsch - Natschalnoje upravlenie Olega (Oleg's entry into government, 1792 , based on a libretto by Catherine II ), as well as two orchestral symphonies and chamber music works, including sonatas for violin and guitar.
