Carlo Fabrizio Paróna (* 1855 in Melegnano , † 1939 in Busto Arsizio ) was an Italian geologist and paleontologist .

Paróna studied geology in Pavia and was professor of geology at the University of Turin from 1889 to 1930 .

He was a member of the Accademia dei Lincei (1908) and President of the Turin Academy of Sciences (1928 to 1931). He was also President of the Società Geologica Italiana and President of the Geological Commission of Italy in 1901 and 1913.

In addition to research in particular on the Italian Alps and other regions of Italy (e.g. fossils of the Miocene in Sardinia, mussels and rudists in the Central Appennines, over Piedmont), he dealt with North Africa and carried out a study on behalf of the state for the former colony of Libya in 1913 to improve agriculture. His 1903 book on the geology of Italy was a standard work. In 1927 he contributed to the evaluation of De Filippi's Italian expedition to Asia (Himalayas, Turkestan, Karakoram), for which he processed the fossils.
