Carlo Meier

Carlo Meier (born April 7, 1961 in Zurich ) is a Swiss writer .

Life

After training as a journalist, Carlo Meier wrote for nationwide Swiss publications such as “ Observer ”, “ Weltwoche ”, “ Das Magazin ” from “ Tages-Anzeiger ” and “ Berner Zeitung ”, “ Schweizer Familie ”, “Das Beste” and many more. He wrote reports from home and abroad as well as numerous large interviews with prominent artists such as the musician Andreas Vollenweider and athletes such as the Swiss ex-national team player Adrian Knup . At the same time he wrote scripts for film and television, including an episode of the television series “ Tatort ” and the cave feature film “Irrlichter”, which was broadcast on ZDF, SF and other stations as well as in cinemas in Germany and abroad, and its script was awarded by the European Script Fund in London. In 1992 his first novel was published, the crime personage "No corpse in Damascus". "Horu" and "Das Buch Müller" followed. His novels combine a crime thriller with socially critical approaches.

In 1999 he started his children's and youth book series Die Kaminski-Kids , which he writes together with his children. The series received various awards, including the SRG Idée Suisse Prize. By 2019, nineteen episodes and two special volumes "The Great Christmas Fall" and "The 2nd Christmas Fall" have been published. Each volume deals with a current topic (internet dangers, youth violence, bullying, foster children, drugs) and has been researched by experts and the criminal police. The Kaminski Kids books are translated into several languages, recommended by youth organizations as being pedagogically sensible and used in schools for projects on addiction and violence prevention. So far, the author has been invited to over 2000 readings at home and abroad.

Meier's adult novel “Hope Road” (2011) tells the story of a 70-year-old shared apartment in London. The main role is played by the mature protagonists' shared flat life.

Between 2017 and 2020 he published the mystery-thriller trilogy "Paradise Valley" for young people aged 13 to 16, which received awards even before the first volume was published (by Pro Helvetia, among others).

Carlo Meier has three grown children who have been by his side in creating the stories since the beginning of his book series “Die Kaminski-Kids”. He lives with his wife in Zug (Switzerland).
