Carlos Buhler

Carlos Buhler (* 1954 in Harrison (New York) ) is an American mountaineer who has made some spectacular first ascents. He has participated in over 44 expeditions to peaks in Asia, North and South America and is considered America's best high altitude climber.

In 1983 he was a member of the second American Everest expedition to climb the eastern flank of the mountain. On October 8, 1983, he reached the summit with Louis Reichardt and Kim Momb . On his second attempt to climb K2, he gave up shortly before the summit, but was able to save Rob Hall's life. On his third attempt he was able to conquer K2 via the north side. He was also the first American to climb the Kangchenjunga and the Nanga Parbat . The first ascent of the east face of Ama Dablam in 1985 is also remarkable .
