Carlos Fischer

Carlos Lorenzo Fischer Brusoni (* 1903 in Fray Bentos ; † 1969 ) was a Uruguayan politician .

Fischer belonged to the Partido Colorado . From February 15, 1943 to November 9, 1949 he held a mandate for the Río Negro Department in the Cámara de Representantes in the 34th and 35th legislative periods . In the early 1950s he was Uruguay's Minister of Agriculture. In 1958, after his election by the National Council on March 7, he succeeded Arturo Lezama in the chairmanship of the Consejo Nacional de Gobierno , making him the last member of the Partido Colorado in this position and at that time President of the Republic. He was replaced on March 1, 1959 by Martín Echegoyen , under whose presidency he was also first vice-president in the Cámara de Senadores in 1963 . In the 38th and 39th legislative periods he sat as Deputy Senator from March 3, 1959 with a few interruptions until February 14, 1967 in the Senate.
