Carlos Gustavo Moreira

Carlos Gustavo Tamm de Araujo Moreira (born February 8, 1973 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian mathematician who deals with dynamic systems, ergodic theory , number theory and combinatorics.

He is at the Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA), where he received his doctorate in 1993 under Jacob Palis .

In 2009 he received the Prize of the Unión Matemática de América Latina y el Caribe , in 2010 the Prize of the Third World Academy of Sciences and in 2018 he was selected as plenary speaker for the International Congress of Mathematicians in Rio de Janeiro. In 2008 he became a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences . In 2014 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Seoul (Fractal geometry and dynamical bifurcations). In 2018 he is plenary speaker at the ICM in Rio ( Dynamical systems, fractal geometry and diophantine approximations ).
