Carlos J. Finlay Prize
The Carlos J. Finlay Prize (Carlos J. Finlay Prize for Meritorious Work in Microbiology) is a UNESCO award for outstanding contributions to microbiology . It was installed on the initiative of Cuba and was awarded between 1980 and 2005 and again from 2015, most recently about every two years. The award is named after Carlos Juan Finlay (1833–1915), a Cuban doctor and scientist.
In 2006, UNESCO found that only 22% of the awardees were female.
