Cie Frazier
Josiah "Cie" Frazier (born February 23, 1904 in New Orleans , † January 10, 1985 ibid) was an American drummer of Dixieland Jazz .
Live and act
Frazier had lessons from Louis Cottrell senior in 1921 . For the first time in 1927 he recorded with Papa Celestin ; he was then a member of Armand J. Piron's orchestra and worked with the Sunny South Band and the Sidney Desvigne Orchestra before joining the Works Progress Administration . Between 1942 and 1945 he did his military service in the US Navy in dance bands.
In 1945 he recorded with Wooden Joe Nicholas , and again worked with Celestin and Percy Humphrey in the 1950s. In his later years he performed regularly at the Preservation Hall and played with various local brass bands in New Orleans such as the Young Tuxedo Brass Band , Emile Barnes ' Louisiana Joymakers, Kid Howard 's La Vida Band and the Eureka Brass Band . Frazier, who also played with Billie Pierce and Dede Pierce , Paul Barbarin and Sweet Emma Barrett , participated in 105 recording sessions in the course of his career in jazz from 1927 to 1983, u. a. with George Lewis or Willie Humphrey .
