Pascale Cossart (born March 21, 1948 in Cambrai ) is a French microbiologist .

life and work

Cossart studied chemistry and graduated in 1968 from the University of Lille with a Maîtrise ès Sciences . In 1971 she graduated from the Georgetown University the Master of Science and in 1977 she was at the University of Paris VII doctorate. Since 1991, Cossart has headed the “Interaction Bacteries-Cellules” working group at the Pasteur Institute and has published numerous articles on the molecular biology and cell biology of the pathogenic bacterium Listeria monocytogenes . With Stanley Falkow and Philippe J. Sansonetti, Cossart coined the term cellular microbiology and received the Robert Koch Prize in 2007 for their work on Listeria monocytogenes .
