Carlos Lynes

Carlos Lynes (* 20th February 1910 in Atlanta ; † 6. April 2007 in Paris ) was a US -American Romance languages .

life and work

Lynes studied at Emory University in Atlanta. In 1934 he passed the master’s examination with the thesis Flaubert the poet . In 1939 he received his doctorate from Princeton University with the thesis Chateaubriand as a historian and critic of French literature (published by T. Chateaubriand as a critic of French literature , Baltimore / London 1946, New York 1973). From 1945 to 1975 he taught at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia , from 1947 as Associate Professor, from 1953 as Full Professor of Romance Philology. He retired first in Nice and from 1979 in Paris.
