The Carlson Buttress is a 1800 m (according to the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee 1750 m ) high rock spur in the West Antarctic Queen Elizabeth Land . In the Dufek massif of the Pensacola Mountains, it rises northwest of Worcester Summit on the north side of the Jaeger Table .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the formation in 1979 after Christine Carlson, geologist of the United States Geological Survey , who worked in the Antarctic summer between 1976 and 1977 in the area of the Duffek massif.
