The Carlstrom Foothills are a group of mountain peaks and ridges in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Churchill Mountains they extend over a length of 16 km and with a maximum height of 1690 m in a north-south orientation between Mount Albert Markham and the Kelly Plateau .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named her in 2003 after John Eric Carlstrom (* 1957) from the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Chicago , in 2001 project leader at the Center for Astrophysical Research at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station .
