Carly Smithson
Carly Smithson (* 12. September 1983 in Dublin as Carly Sarah Hennessy ) is an Irish Soul - pop - rock - and Metal singer and songwriter. She reached sixth place in the seventh season of American Idol . From 2009 to 2012 she was the singer of the gothic metal band We Are the Fallen .
In 2001 Smithson released her first studio album under the name Ultimate High . After meeting former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody , plans for her first solo album after American Idol were dropped. Instead, Smithson became the front woman of the then newly formed metal band We Are the Fallen, named after Evanescence's first studio album, Fallen .
Smithson is married and lives with her husband in San Diego , California .
