Carnival of Souls was a Gelsenkirchen rock band.
history
The band emerged from jam sessions of the hardcore punk musicians Achim Weigel and Magnus Prull, who were dissatisfied with the musical limitations of their main bands at the time. They finally joined Thorsten Keller, who had previously drummed under the name Torso at Hostages of Ayatollah .
Eventually they recorded a demo tape and was quickly signed by L'age d'or , who put Christian Mevs at their side as a producer. For Lado they recorded three albums in three years before the band became quieter. Keller and Prull left the band. The latter is now senior physician for internal medicine at Marienhospital Herne
In 1998 the line-up Weigel, Block, Herzam, Lammert was represented on the Lado Sampler Music for Young People . Two years later, reinforced by Till Steinemann, the album Ritorno A Casa was released on Kamikaze Records . Not much later, Achim Weigel withdrew from the music business and the band broke up.
style
The music magazine Popnoize described Carnival Of Souls as a “fast-paced, full of positive tension generator of feelings”, who “can do everything out of jazz, surf, country, hardcore and orient [...] that is fun and , poured in trio, sounds good ”and for the editorial staff of the intro it sounded like“ film music […] although the film does not yet exist, of course! ”.
