Kamikaze Records is a German independent label from Georgsmarienhütte in Lower Saxony . The label has specialized in surf music and has its own music publisher Taifun Music Publishing . From 1997 to 2009 the label also released a fanzine called Banzai! .

Label history

The initial spark for founding the label was the film Pulp Fiction , in particular the soundtrack with music by Dick Dale & His Del-Tones , The Tornadoes and The Lively Ones . The two brothers Dieter and Frank Plaßmeyer then founded the surf band Way Out West . In the absence of a suitable record label, they founded their own label. Initially limited to self-publications, other bands began to be included in the program. In addition to surf, other instrumental music and rockabilly are also released on the label. With Taifun Music Publishing, the two brothers founded a music publisher that accounts directly with GEMA, samples radio stations and tries to win foreign labels.

In 1997 the Fanzine Banzai was founded! , which had totaled 18 issues by the time it was discontinued in 2009. In addition to surf music, the fanzine also covered rockabilly. From the fourth edition onwards, a CD was included.
